We have added a new event that I'm super excited about.... "SHAKE your Tutu" not just for girls. I already have some boys coming in vintage (boy) clothing that is going to be pretty fun. Moore Beach

While I was at the Beach the Moore family came down to visit. We did a lot of sightseeing while they were here. I took them to a lot of my favorite places on the Oregon Coast. We even packed up their baby and went for a big hike. The last night at the beach we were having dinner by the campfire and when the sun started to go down we ran out and created this image.

Romantic Getaway

I was on the beach doing a session, and this couple was standing up on this rock perfectly posed. They were holding hands and hugging and seemed to just be taking in the Beach and the Ocean. I couldn't grab my camera fast enough . When they came down off the rock, I found out that they were on Vacation from back east. Then the last night I was at the beach, the same couple were sitting on the beach watching the sunset. I couldn't help myself again. They were so Romantic!!!

Kiss Me Cate!!!

One of the highlights from this summer was Cate and her frog (yes, it's real). The client wanted to capture candids of Cate as she is right now at the age of 2 exploring, telling us the color of things, and just running around. At the beginning of the session, we had a little visitor hop up on the side of the wall where we were. For me it was a lucky frog...we got some amazing expressions out of her being curious and holding still ... it's a moment I will never forget.

One day Cate will meet this little frog again, but he will be a prince. How priceless is that?

Chris' Senior Portraits

Chris is Naches High School Senior, this was fun location session. We went to his home dugout. It was so hot, Chris was wearing his lettermans jacket for a few of the portraits and he thought that he was going to have heat stroke. We did portraits with his dogs, on the river, and downtown Naches. I can't believe how much Chris looks just like his dad in this portrait. This was the first stop on Garrett & Annette's Portrait Tour de Northwest (Tri-Cities to Naches to Coeur d'Alene to Seattle and back in four days!!)

Hailey is one year old. So Adorable!!! If she sees a picture or a reflection of herself she says"pretty". She does a really cute fake cough and sneeze. I feel in love with her little leopard print purse. She is going to be a real girly girl! She just found out she is going to be a big sister and she has been practicing with her dolls.

Meet the Corrales family! This session was so fun. With a little bit of planning and timing of what state fields are going to be in between cuttings I think we did a pretty good job. Erica is a rock star and lined up the tractors in the background.... giving it even more depth to the final portrait.

Inga & Don Wedding in Seattle

Inga & Don got married on a Thursday, on Lake Union in Seattle. They had a perfect small intimate wedding with a family and a few close friends. Inga's son Diego gave her away, that was such a special moment. Inga was my coffee Barista at Starbucks down on the Oregon Coast. Don is in the Coast Guard, and he use to go through the Starbucks drive thru hoping to see Inga. A true Starbucks Romance! All Good Stories Start at Starbucks!!!

Sneak Peak for Kelsey

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful and sweet Kelsey. She was so fun to work with... so comfortable in everything that we did. We loved hearing her Grandpa tell stories and showing us pictures of her when she was born. Can't tell but he is a little bit proud... so sweet. Yes, you guessed it ... I teared up. ;)

We took her everywhere from the "Hamptons" to the peaks of Mt. Hood. ;)

Heider Sneak Peak

Wheat harvest is my one of favorite times of year. It's one of the most beautiful things that God created, I think. From the rolling hills of gold to the smallest seed that does so much. Not to mention the plant itself is amazing! ... the sound of wheat blowing in the wind is amazing... how come they don't have that on a meditation CD?

Meet the Heider Family! Their farm has a special place in my heart because when I was in college I photographed their harvest in 1999 & 2000 I think it was. I loved the whole thing... family coming together to work hard and enjoy meals together. And with the Heiders there is always lots of laughing and good times.

This year is Kim's 50th birthday (sorry Kim not sure if you want everyone to know that but you should be proud) So it was time to have a family portrait now that the girls are grown up. This year Jill and I learned that "what happens on the farm stays at the farm." I can't remember which one of the funny jokes they are laughing at in this portrait but it is SO them. I was going through and editing for their order session for tomorrow and really wanted to share this one with you. If you know the Heiders I think you will agree that this is so them... you probably can hear them laughing. Love you Mark, Kim, Karlye and Amber! ...way more cute ones to come!

Welch Family Reunion

So really the hardest part of my job is getting families to get their families together... Finkbeiner's are a good example of this. Kenton... their son hasn't been home for a couple years now. And this summer was his 10 year reunion.... so we snagged him while he was home to create some family portraits that have been long over due. Before Kamryn was born she was known as Baby J or Baby Johnson.. I'm sure there is other names they had for her... so it was quite the build up of WHAT they were going to name her... big secret!!! Well she came into the world April 13th her official name is Kamryn Baumann Johnson. She weighed 8 lbs 2 oz and is 20.5 inches long. She is such a good baby... every time I see her she is sleeping and I have to ask if she is real or not. Kamryn you have really made it hard on your future siblings to live up to your standards. Congrats Nick and Kate she is AMAZING!!!

Meet the Broberg Family. What special friends they are to Olivieri Portrait Design. The Broberg Family have had an eventful year with the birth of their fourth child Ky Anne. You may remember her from last fall, see Ky Anne's little gift.... and a few more.

As this family grows, one can truly see the deep love they share for each other. I was honored to photograph such a wonderful family. We all met in Pasco on a warm spring evening. WOW! If you are one of my blog followers you already know that I love Kahlotus, but now I totally LOVE Kahlotus. Meet Mandi! A couple years ago I had the pleasure of photographing Lexi, her sister. Just when I didn’t think that I could possibly love Kahlotus more than I already had… Mandi’s mother called and told me they bought a old building in town. This building was a general store back in the day, complete with a soda pop counter. Also nails were left in the bins, dated beer still on the shelves, and old Kahlotus signs… for a photographer this was like PROP HEAVEN. When they first walked us through it I was on sensory over load. Not to mention an old apartment upstairs that had cool colors and that was half demoed. Actually we did this session last week and the funky green wall is no longer with us. Mandi you truly had a one of kind portrait session. Thanks for sharing this photographer’s dream with Jill and I.

Print Competition

Just got back from the Professional Photographers of Washington State Conference. This year I really brought home some trophies that I was so not expecting. This year had some really great work that was judged and were selected to hang in print salon. The beach portrait above is the Perkins family... titled "All to Ourselves" got the high score out of my prints that I entered. It won best of it's category "Best Portrait of a Group" aka Family. Nick Print..."The Piano" did well scoring wise.... he got honorable mention in the category of the "Portrait of a Man" it was also selected by Kodak as a Gallery Award.

I was blow away it got selected out of our state! This is my second one but I didn't see it com'n! ;)

The week after Christmas I had the honor to photograph the Eppich family at Priest Lake. Their family spends lots of quality time at Priest Lake and it's a special place for them. It was super cold and the lake was frozen... it's was beautiful. We saw a Moose here and there. It truly was a Wintery Wonderland.

My last blog post I was thinking that I didn't use my camera the whole trip so I had nothing to show you. BUT I did. I just forgot about them. Jason and I did make it the for dinner on the beach with home made chili, mittens, gloves and well I looked like a bag lady I was so bundled. It was a great sunset and some great chili.

Just got home from a week at the beach. I actually saw the sun a couple days in the row! Every time I go visit I fall in love all over again. Jason and I have been exploring the beaches in his area that he is in now. SO fun! I also have found some craft stores that I have to saw I visit more then I should have but I love it. Already scheduling family portraits on the beach this year... so excited! Even if you can't make it the beach this year I hope you can get a break and get away when you need it!

Christmas Surprises

So months leading up till Christmas in my biz is really hard for me cause people do "Surprise" Portraits and I'm the worst at surprises cause I'm just so excited I have hard time keeping them a a secret. It's fun but I end up dodge the person that is about to receive the gifts so that slip up. So here is a catch up on sessions that we're a special gift under the tree.
This session was a surprise for Dorothy and Elmer's Children. Jordan had a hard time keeping the secret of what he did at Grandma's house over the weekend. As far as I know he was able to keep the secret for weeks.

For Susie getting her portrait created is like going to the dentist. She had this portrait created for her husband, mother and children. From what I heard there were some tears on Christmas. Great job Susie.. this portrait is beautiful of you and I hope we have over come the whole fear thing. In the long run I think it was all worth it. They will enjoy this portrait of you for many years to come.

The Gimenez Family started a new family tradition... getting their portraits done annually for their Christmas card. Sounds great to me, they are such a joy to photograph and be around. Michael is the cutest little guy... what a ham he was posing it up. What a blessing he is!

The CUTE Smith Family

Last week I had the honor of photographing the Smith family on their feed lot. Did I mention it was 17 degrees. This is about the only thing that makes me work fast. It really was fun and the kids were Rock Stars at staying warm.
I didn't know the family before doing their session so I asked who they were to a friend of mine... she told me that they had the cutest kids. I was soon found out that this is SO true... and fun to hang out with in the COLD .... not one complaint and if you ask them they will probably tell you they had a blast. They made me laugh hard! SO CUTE!

In the mix of the busy season every fall I try to get away and meet up with my good ol' friends at the Professional Photographers of Washington Fall Conference. We meet at a different location in Washington and this year was Friday Harbor. And I think I feel in love. What is not to love about it? The picture above is me and my friend Laura on Snoqualmie Pass.
Just a few of wonderful views from San Juan Island Yacht Club.

One of the days we had the chance to get away and explore the island. We went to a lavender farm, saw cute houses, farms, lighthouses, and amazing fall colors.

And the end of our evening journey we found a restaurant open in Roche Harbor.... and it was the best meal ever!

We spent a nice day with Laura & Kyle last Saturday. Their wedding day was filled with excitement and family togetherness. The bride was dressed in a beautiful drop waist, satin gown, and accentuated with her Great-Grandmother's antique diamond bracelet. The wedding's bronze and red hues complimented the crisp Autumn day and the changing colors of our beloved Eastern Washington leaves. Although the weather detoured the wedding location, the ceremony was still unique and all about Kyle and Laura.

A couple of weeks ago I had the honor of photographing my friend Josie and her daughter Mia. Josie was one of my first models back in the day (High School) before I even knew I wanted to be a photographer. It was on our trip to Europe where I photographed her in front of a fountain in Monaco that made me fall in love with photography. I think I might have won some ribbons at the fair with that one. ;)

Meet AJ. Not only do I only feel old because I'm still recovering from yesterdays wedding... but tonight I had this portrait session of AJ.... who.. yes.. Open House and final look at the new studio

Thanks goes out to everyone who came to the Open Houses this past week. If you missed it here is internet tour but please come by and see it in person when you can!

I got to busy talking to over 100 people that I didn't get a chance to take a picture of everyone but here is s few highlights from Sunday's Open House.

This is Heather and Sean that came all the way from Seattle for the day. Heather and Sean is the couple I did their wedding this summer in Seattle. So excited to have them there!

These are the famous Treasure Hunters that found this oh so sweet piano!
Jason even made it! So special to have him here, one of the highlights of the week was when Jason saw the studio for the first time... he helped me move stuff in last time he was here but he was so proud taking pictures of everything. His support and love floors me. Another special moment was Saturday night dancing the camera room! We have come along way with the studio and again I couldn't have done it without him.
I'm only guessing because I wasn't in the conversation but if you know these people there were "talking shop".
Haylee also made it! She is posing with her portrait with the soccer ball on fire... most guy's favorite portrait.

The Piano Man!

I have been referring to this portrait as "The Piano Man"!!! LOVE IT! Nick is a Connell High School Senior this year. When I first met Nick it was singing at a wedding I photographed last spring. Then again this summer at the pool he is also a lifeguard. While swimming laps this summer every lap I would come up out of the water and hear Nick singing a tune. What a great way to wake up in the morning.... swimming and hearing him belt it. Little did he know that I could hear him. ;) So when Nick called me to do his senior portraits I knew he would be my first senior on my new piano! Pretty sweet huh? He thinks so! More fun ones of Nick to come....

At the Beach with the Perkins Family

This summer we had a chance to get away and meet up with the Perkins family and also the Wieselers. You would think in July it would be a little nicer... but the fog wouldn't stop that week. For portraits it adds drama but it's also a little cold for little ones. Emersyn wasn't feeling her best that day but still she was really cute! By the end she was Emersyn popsicle! Thanks Perkins family for hanging out with us and putting up with us at the beach.

One of my favs.... had to have a sample of this for the studio! Just shows you how foggy it gets. At different moments it was so foggy the rock was gone.

Ribbon Cutting

Tonight was the Ribbon Cutting for the studio! We had a great turn out from the Chamber of Commerce and met lots of new faces. The City of Richland named us "Business of the Day"! Thanks to who all that came it was great meeting all of you! Also Mayor John Fox made it at the last second. Thank you John for taking time out of your business schedule to be with us!

First Week at the Studio

My first week in the studio has been a busy one. Besides moving in all my stuff and putting things together we have also been trying to conduct business as normal. Let's just say I made it! Here is a look at the first week in the studio. Above we have the projection sales room. There soon will be samples on the walls... kind of empty without it but it's coming along. Side note: My Dad made and install the projector stand ... gotta love a handy father! ;)
This is my CRAZY work area... you don't have to wear a hard hat when you enter but it's still in the 'MOVE IN' mode. We installed all these shelves this week... gotta love the vertical space for storage... now I just need a library ladder with wheels.

Tuesday the table for the front room arrived! Just looking for more mismatch chairs.
My Dad made and installed this carpet wall for my Frame samples... yeah it's the best! I love it!
This my Mom pretending to work... JK! ;)

The start of installing the light track system for the camera room area. LOL my Dad cracks me up he is sporting his Art Institute of Seattle T-Shirt... The support of my family ROCKS! I couldn't do any of this with out them! Also thanks goes out to my friend Arlene who sold me this set... she came and guided us on how it all went together. 5 million pieces yikes!This a bad picture of the rail system but it gives you an idea of what the heck I'm talking about!On Tuesday evening the PIANO arrived. I love this everyone probably thinks I'm crazy but it's a must see in person item. Thank you to Nick and CREW for getting to the studio without even a scratch! ;)
Along with taking care of business I made a delivery to the Robles family in Walla Walla... Love the cat posing CRACKS me up!
My first order session in the new sales room with Haylee and her family ... went really well I love the set up! Here are few images from her Session! This picture below is what you might call a "Road Kill" portrait. One of their favorites ...how fun!

Friday the Blue painters tape that said Olivieri in the window had to retire. Although a lot of people liked it! ;) I think this is way bettter!
My first Portrait session in the studio. If you know me at all you know there is a story to everything. These are portraits of my friend Dani and her son Tristian.... oh and their dog Romeo. Ok.... to my story, back in Junior High Dani I were the best of friends and I used to photograph her and friends in her upstairs living room with a bed sheet background and WHO knows for what for light. I think I have come a long ways from those days. What a special moment this was for me.

We had so much fun in studio.... Tristian is a Crack up! The laughter was endless.

I guess dreams do come true some just take longer to come true then others. So you know it's 'for real' when your name is in the front window.

Priest Lake

I took a little time to get away and relax at Priest Lake. I enjoyed visiting with the Heider and Koch Families. We also took time to scout out beautiful areas around Priest Lake for a future Heider Family portrait session. A BIG thank you goes out to the Heider Family for their generous hospitality!
While appreciating the various views of the lake, I also enjoyed working on Lisa and Monty's wedding portraits. What a great getaway for a couple of days. Now....it's back to work!
